The Bay of Islands is one of NZ's favourite fishing grounds made world famous by Zane Grey the American author. In the bay we catch all kinds of fish from Snapper, Trevalli and Tarakihi to the bigger stuff like Kingfish, Hapuka/Groper all the way up to the big game fish of Marlin, Tuna and Broadbill. You can fish for snapper all year round but if you have the desire for the big stuff then you'll need to make your way here between December and April for Marlin season. No experience necessary.
Prices start from $85 (per person) for a 4 hour snapper trip.
