Picture New Zealand and what do you see? Probably our unique Māori culture, beautiful countryside, and that funny-shaped flightless bird called the kiwi that we seem so proud of. Well, there’s a place in Rotorua where you can experience all of this in one day!
Te Puia is the best place in New Zealand to learn about Māori culture and see it in action, as well as epic geothermal activity like geysers shooting steam high into the air. We can take you there on a full day tour from Auckland, travelling in our luxury air-conditioned coach with a driver guide keeping you entertained along the way.
When you get to Te Puia, you’ll be welcomed onto the marae (meeting house) for a 45-minute cultural performance that will have your spine tingling and your socks knocked well and truly off.
Te Puia's talented performers will blow you away with traditional songs, beautiful harmonies and graceful, energetic dances including the world-renowned haka (as made famous by the All Blacks New Zealand rugby team!). You’ll see the rhythmic coordination of poi dance and hear ancient legends told in a way that’s been handed down over the centuries.
After the cultural performance, your guided tour of Te Puia begins. See Māori art and architecture, from the historic pre-European village to the bold contemporary displays. Visit the New Zealand Māori Arts & Crafts Institute and see master craftspeople teaching traditional Māori carving and weaving to a new generation.
Don’t miss the Kiwi House, where you’ll have a chance to see New Zealand’s national emblem, the flightless kiwi bird. And to top it all off you’re in one of the top geothermal areas in Rotorua, with more than 500 geothermal wonders, including the Southern Hemisphere’s largest active geyser!
At the end of your Te Puia tour, your driver guide will be ready to take you back to Auckland, arriving in the early evening.
